Child Therapy in Benfleet
A safe, private space for children to feel heard, supported, and understood.
At Benfleet Counselling, we offer child and adolescent therapy in a calm, respectful, and confidential environment. Whether your child is experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, school difficulties or emotional overwhelm — therapy can help them build resilience, improve emotional awareness, and develop healthy coping strategies.
Our Approach
Our therapists work in age-appropriate, creative ways, using a range of methods such as:
- Talking therapy
- Creative play and drawing
- CBT adapted for children
- Storytelling and metaphor
- Integrative approaches tailored to each child’s developmental needs
The goal is always to meet your child where they are — and help them feel safe enough to express what’s going on internally, even if they can’t always explain it directly.
When to Consider Therapy
You may want to seek support if your child is:
- Experiencing anxiety, anger, or low mood
- Struggling with school attendance or performance
- Reacting to divorce, loss, or trauma
- Displaying changes in behaviour or emotional regulation
- Coping with bullying, friendship challenges, or social withdrawal
- Living with neurodivergence (ADHD, autism, sensory sensitivities)
Working Together: Children, Parents & Confidentiality
We believe therapy works best when children feel safe and respected. While we understand that parents want to stay informed, we ask that you honour your child’s right to a private space.
- Therapists may provide general updates, but session content remains confidential, unless your child consents or a safeguarding concern arises.
- If we ever believe your child is at serious risk of harm, we will involve you promptly.
- You’ll be kept in the loop regarding scheduling, payments, and session progress — while your child’s emotional safety remains our priority.
Our Child Therapists
All therapists working with children:
- Hold enhanced DBS clearance
- Are registered with professional bodies (e.g. BACP)
- Attend regular clinical supervision
- Follow strict safeguarding protocols
Is Therapy Right for Your Child?
If you’re unsure whether therapy is right for your child, we’re happy to talk things through. The first step is a parent/caregiver consultation to understand what’s going on and how we can help.
