About me
Hello I am Tricia. I am a registered Counsellor and I offer on-line counselling for adults.
I first started out my career as a Legal Secretary where I worked in Employment, Litigation and Matrimonial Law. Later in life, I decided to train as a therapist and help other people, which has always been something I felt compelled to do.
From my own experience of having counselling in the past, I know it takes courage and I tend to think of it as unravelling the tangled wires inside my head and tidying them up. I was able to think clearer afterwards and see things from a different perspective. I felt lighter afterwards, as though a weight had been lifted.
I am a warm, genuine, real and empathic person, which I feel are the qualities needed for counselling. I strongly believe that the relationship in therapy is one of the most important first step to making changes.
I will provide you with a warm, confidential space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings. My aim is to listen, understand and help you reach your full potential.
We all have uncomfortable thoughts and feelings sometimes and these can lead us to problem behaviours and poor decisions. I can offer you the opportunity to talk to someone about how you are feeling and together we can explore what has been troubling you.
Sometimes it is easier to talk to someone that you can trust, away from family members or friends. Sometimes there is a need to offload feelings and emotions that you might have been carrying around with you since childhood or you might feel that life is becoming too much and you are struggling to cope. Counselling can help with this and make you feel lighter and healthier.
When counselling comes to an end, my door is always open to return in the future if you ever feel the need.
My counselling approach is integrative, where I bring in several models of counselling techniques and theories to meet the needs of the client.
What to expect:
Sessions last for 50 minutes and are often weekly. I can offer short or long term therapy, allowing you to explore your difficulties in a safe, warm and respectful environment.
I am happy to work with anything that is causing you distress and whatever you choose to bring to each session.
